artist's
statement
Objects,
those that are found, made, or gifted to me, influence my
work. Evocative objects act as emotional
and intellectual companions
that anchor memory and sustain new ideas.
Joined with the expressive and physical nature
of the materials and the suggested autobiographical content,
the passage of the personal transmutes into the ambiguous.
Cradled panels and paper support charcoal,
pencil, paint, transferred charcoal
drawings, and wax. The layered surfaces veil, obscure, and
suggest what is not present.
