The choice to major in the visual arts for some students can be a tough decision.

Work with Mona Brody in her studio, located in manufacturer's village, an 1880 Historic Factory. Brody is an internationally and nationally recognized artist and professor of Art at Pratt Institute. A seasoned teacher, Mona draws on her extensive experience having worked both as a HS teacher teaching AP Studio Art courses and preparing students for college admission as well as her work reviewing portfolios for Pratt Institute at the National Portfolio Day Conference and the National Scholastic Art Award.

Portfolio Development for High School Students offers:

DRAWING & PAINTING SELF-PORTRAITURE FIGURE DRAWING Additionally:
Students will explore representational, abstract, andconceptual sensibilities through drawing, painting, whileusing a wide range of media from charcoal and pastel on paper; water-color and ink painting, mixed media andcollage, and acrylic paint on canvas. Students learn to hone their skills into personal statements of self-expression by developing unique portfolios and a personal voice. Students will learn how to create self-portraits using avariety of media and approaches. Realism, self expression,anatomical proportions, and form are explored as studentsstudy portrait composition and allow for artistic expression. Students will learn anatomy, gesture drawing, figureproportions, using a variety of materials and techniques. Students will work from a live model and will explore composition and visual expression by observing the human form.

• Introduction to monoprinting and intaglio
processes using a press.

• Creating and developing an artist journal.

• Developing an independent body of work.

• Digital Documentation of work created.

• Gallery and Museum visit.

SUMMER INTENSIVE
The Portfolio Development summer intensive studio is a five-week portfolio preparation program for high school students applying to art college or university art program.
